CONGRATULATIONS
MIDDLE SCHOOL ROBOTICS TEAMS
Roeper Middle School Mindstorm teams took part in the Lawrence Technological University Robofest Qualifying Tourney at Canton Charter School
Robofest 2011
Team Flying Ninja (Kyler Cousins, Jake Janowitz) constructed a self-driving car that navigated the road, sensing and stopping for intersections, intrepid pedestrians and balls rolling out into the road.
Team Double Vision (Josh Eisenman, Deven Misra. Ben Goldberg, Lainy Lesnau) invented an assist for the visually impaired that used ultrasonic sensors affixed to a baseball cap and belt to detect obstacles and guide the wearer safely through daily movements.
Roeper Parent Beth volunteered to sing the National Anthem
Great job Beth- Welcome to Hollywood
Drew Dagenais and Clayton Spevek constructed a piano playing robot that played "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and "Hot Cross Buns"
Let the judges deliberate...
The teams were required to operate, present, and explain the purpose, designs, and programs of their robot projects
Kyler and Jake presenting to the judges...way to go Team Flying Ninjas!
OMG I am sooo jealous... they didn't have this available when I was that age! A big, well-deserved "mazel tov!" to Jake for a way cool, really advanced 'bot. (And to all the kids who participated -- this kind of competition makes me feel better about the future!)
