We decided to start a new family tradition- every year we will re-live our incredible journey to bring home Sasha Jade by watching ourselves on the computer from this side of the ocean... one year later and one year wiser... Your comments are always welcome:
We had a great time on the airplane! My kids love to fly. How can they be related to me? LOL Ava loved the turbulence, she was disappointed when it stopped! And it was really bad turbulence for about three hours, right when we were getting close to the end. I mean the kind of turbulence that makes you look around for a flight attendant to see if they look nervous too. I'm determined NOT to pass my fear of flying to my kids. I'm sure they were not aware of my white knuckles. Ava watched "Chicken Little" about 4 times. Jake watched "Iron Man"- Melanie- your favorite! Ava made friends all over the plane. We had bulkheads, it was great. Every time Jake saw a little Chinese girl he said "Mom she reminds me of Tian Tian". We are all exhausted but happy to be here. Our guide Jack took us to the hotel and gave us a lot of terrific information on the area, all the inside tips. He made the kids laugh so hard when he called Hong Kong Island "The Concrete Jungle". Ava was in hysterics, she was looking for monkeys! I can't even say concrete jungle without everyone laughing hysterically. The hotel is beautiful, we're at the Shangri-La in Kowloon. We are ordered room service and will go to bed soon, bye for now!

HINDSIGHT:
Jake and Ava, I am so very proud of you for taking this incredible life changing journey, I look back and think about how brave you were, how well you both traveled (could be your recessive genes?), how much I loved you then and how much more I love you now even though I didn't know that was possible (to love you more), as I look at the smiles and wonderment on your faces I am so grateful we did this together as a family. I am the proudest mom in the world, one year later even more proud. Remember how we laughed so hard when Jack met us in the Hong Kong airport and said "welcome to the concrete jungle"...ha ha! Ava Rose thought there were monkeys in the concrete jungle. Maybe that was a preview of Sasha Jade's love of "munchies"? Munchies in the concrete jungle...wonderful memories.
Love, Proud Beaming Mom
PS: Did we really take that much luggage? We needed half as much as we packed.
Hi this is Jake one year later. I remember how much we stayed up late for the first few nights in Hong Kong watching cartoons and laughing at almost anything because we were so over tired we were slap-happy. I remember Ava and I eating cookies on moms bed at 3:30 in the morning.
