One Year Ago Today Across The Ocean Far, Far Away...

We decided to start a new family tradition- every year we will re-live our incredible journey to bring home Sasha Jade by watching ourselves on the computer from this side of the ocean... one year later and one year wiser... Your comments are always welcome:

Hong Kong Is For The Birds!
June 15, 2010- We took it easy this morning and stayed in the room

This afternoon we went to the Bird Market, Flower Market, and Fish Market. It is extremely hot in Hong Kong! We were the sweaty Americans. It was extremely crowded. We talked about what it would be like for a person with a disability to live in a city like this and how difficult it would be to do anything at all. We also talked about how hard it would be not to have a family and to have to fight so many obstacles to have a life here.

first we exchanged some money
took a cab here
to the Po Street Bird Garden
we saw crickets
and lots of birds

in cages
this was symbolic of our experience
watching so many beautiful birds crowded into a cage in the heat

Jake found a turtle
this is the fish market

then we stopped for lunch
(just kidding)

And this is what jet lag looks like:

6:10 pm!

HINDSIGHT:
Thinking back to the heat in HK on this day, you guys were such troopers...and it was unbelievably crowded, I have never seen so many people crammed into one city block. We were all excited and jet lagged and just amazed.

  1. Kristi and I will have just one night in HK, at the end of our trip. I'm glad to have seen your pictures...I hope we will ride the Star ferry and see a little bit before we come home again. Kristi was adopted in Nanning in 1999 and this will be her first time back to China. We are excited to be taking this trip.
