Medical Exam Day

After a very long train ride...and not very much sleep....we arrived two hours late to Guangzhou and just barely made it on time to leave with our group to the dreaded medical exam on Shamian Island. We expected Tian Tian to receive several immunizations and a TB test.
Here we are at the very crowded medical clinic waiting for our turn. The place was packed with screaming children and babies. I did not take any photos of the other kids and families because I wanted to respect their privacy. Trust me, this day the clinic was packed and we waited...and waited....and waited....

Finally, our turn

Sasha Tian Tian didn't seem to mind the exam very much! I thought she would be afraid.

Stickers are always a great distraction for her.
Poor baby....

I guess I made an impression with this sad face because the doctor came out and told our guide that Tian Tian was not going to get any immunizations today, even though originally we were told she would get 5, we even waited forever in a long line to pay the fees. Apparently when I told the doctor she seems to lose her balance and fall down a lot that was enough to give us a waiver! Hurray!

One adoption, two waivers later, and we are out the door of the clinic, no shots!!

  4. Phew! Yeah, it will be so much better to have American docs decide what she really needs and when! I swear, I think it's the surgical masks that scare the kids and we were there right after SARS! Glad that is behind you now- enjoy Guangzhou!
