Shopping On Shamian

We went shopping tonight!
I'm glad we stayed in a hotel off the island, it's very muddy and a big mess because of all the construction for the upcoming Asian Games. I really can't understand why so much money is being poured into refacing the buildings and storefronts, the businesses here are being negatively affected by it, this is such a waste of money! Refacing to Safe Face?

Shamian Island
it's beautiful here

Constructing a better "face" for Asian Games

Sasha is asking everyone to pose for the camera
and she wants us to hold up the "peace sign"

where's Xi Xi?
surprise!!!
this is inside the White Swan Hotel

neither rain, construction, or mud will keep us from shopping

that's me way in the back negotiating...

...oh no! Sasha-Sticker-Girl Strikes again!!!!
It took a few minutes to peel all the stickers off the carpet...!

  2. Hi, we love your blog!! We are waiting for LOA and we are with the same agency as well. We think that we know Xi XI. It has to be the same person. Can you ask her about her nephew Bob? They were our guides when we adopted our son in December of 2006 ! We would love to be able to see them when we travel. Have a great day, Kristin and Kevin

  4. Marla,
The shopping looks like it was so much fun! I can't wait to see what you bought. The little girl sister dresses that Ava & Sasha are wearing are adorable, and Jakey looks like such a responsible big brother holding Sasha's little hand! Don't forget to put yourself in the photos too - new mama! I was at the West Bloomfield library and picked up a flier for something called "Language of the Heart Multicultural Storytime" in Chinese, July 27th. I hope you don't mind I am already planning activities. I can't help it, I am a very excited Auntie! I'm sure you don't want your amazing trip to end, but I really miss you and can't wait for you to come home. I love you all so much!

    Love,
    Auntie Aliya
